Offered: First Chapter Critique by Seleste deLaney

What You Are Bidding On:

Critique of a first chapter (no more than 20 pages). But wait! There’s more…see the description, because I’m evil like that.

Description:

You are bidding on a first chapter crit from urban fantasy and romance author, Seleste deLaney (the Evil League’s very own Blasphemous Dispensator of Expenditures). Seleste is known for cracking the whip and won’t let you get away with any speshul snowflake nonsense. She will crit for… pretty much anything and everything she sees. Adverbs, participle phrasing, cursed-independently-moving body parts, awkward cursing…nothing is safe. Bring your big kid panties and some tissues because she’s here to make you better, not hold your hand.

But, in reward for good behavior (bidding, people…jeez), Seleste will up the ante. If the bidding goes over $50, she will throw in a query critique as well. Over $100? She’ll also crit your dreaded, ugly, pathetic excuse for a short synopsis. Over $200? She’ll do the long synopsis too.

So you know what you’re in for, here are some endorsements from authors she’s work she’s had the pleasure of dissecting:

  • “Harsh but hilarious.” ~ NYT Bestseller Katee Robert, author of the Come Undone series
  • "She'll rip your manuscript to pieces until your eyes bleed, but the result is worth every painful tear you'll shed." ~ Diane Albert, author of Try Me
  • “Thought provoking & brutally honest.” ~ Danielle LaPaglia, author of One More Shot
  • “(She) made me think really hard in ways I didn't want to." ~ Suzanne Lazear, author of Innocent Darkness

Minimum Bid:

$20

Geographical Restrictions:

None

Bio:

At a young age, Seleste discovered the trick to not being afraid of the monsters under the bed was to turn them into heroes. Since that’s time, she’s seen more than enough of human monsters that she prefers to escape into worlds where even the demons have rules to play by and the good guys might end up battered and bruised (or dead), but they always win. Now, those worlds have made it into this one and you can find her work in the pages of the Blood Kissed series, Badlands series, as a contributor to the multi-author series Cupid’s Conquests, and in several short story anthologies.

  1. $50 to make me better at giving the monsters a human soul and the humans a monster's soul.

    2. Thank you, that's a true compliment. (Although the antagonist of my book just offered the needlessly snarky comment, "Truly Evil? Yeah, about as evil as a Starbucks coffee that is!") Is he going to be sorry when I start in on the next chapter!
